Born from the Southern California surf scene in the 1980s, Stüssy would soon go on to completely redefine the look and feel of casualwear. Its creator, Shawn Stüssy, was a surfer who used to shape boards for friends and locals in Laguna Beach. Soon, he began screening his own T-shirts and shorts to sell with the surfboards as a promotion, with his surname written in a graffiti style. Soon, it became the company's iconic logo, and Stüssy inadvertently stumbled into the clothing business. After setting up showrooms in New York and California, his designs transcended cult status and turned into the hugely popular brand it is today.
